With three #1 hits and a pair of critically acclaimed dramas to their names, PHIL HAY and screenwriting partner MATT MANFREDI have established themselves as one of screenwriting’s most versatile duos, moving fluidly among comedy, intimate drama and large-scale action, sci-fi and fantasy projects that feature their character-driven signature.

The dramatic thriller “The Invitation” marks their return to independent filmmaking. Written & produced by Manfredi & Hay and directed by Karyn Kusama, “The Invitation” debuted at SXSW in 2015 and went on to play to great acclaim at film festivals around the world, including Europe’s most prestigious genre festival, Sitges, where it won Best Picture. The film was released by Drafthouse Films in April, 2016.

On the studio side, Hay & Manfredi wrote the record-breaking action comedy “Ride Along,” which spent three weeks at #1 in 2014, as well as its hit 2016 sequel, “Ride Along 2,” both starring Ice Cube & Kevin Hart. Before that, they wrote the 2010 remake of “Clash of the Titans.” One of the year’s biggest hits, “Clash” grossed nearly $500 million worldwide.

The pair made their screenwriting debut in 2001 with the critically acclaimed, enduring drama “crazy/beautiful,” which starred Kirsten Dunst. Manfredi wrote and, with Hay, co-directed the 2002 comedy “Bug,” which won the Audience Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Hay & Manfredi also wrote the science fiction epic “Aeon Flux” and the action comedy “R.I.P.D.,” starring, respectively, Charlize Theron, Ryan Reynolds, and Jeff Bridges.

Hay & Manfredi both reside in Los Angeles with their families.
